No snails in Connecticut? WTF

You can get a permit for brigs. Spixis, columbian ramshorns, and canas I know are illegal to ship. Other plant eating apple snail species are as well I believe, but I would have to look it up. I have applied 3 times for permits for spixis and columbians and have been denied as they are illegal to ship.

That was what I had heard all other snails they are not requiring permits. I know I have some snails coming my way from over seas and if they were illegal then customs would not even let them in the states.

I probably could've worded my previous post better. What I meant was, that Pomacea bridgesii seems to be the only snail that can be legally shipped across state lines AND requires a permit to do so. Other snails can be legally shipped (MTS, Ramshorns, Nerites, etc) don't require any permits.

And don't bother applying for permits for Spixis, Columbians, etc any longer. I doubt they'd lift the ban on other Apple Snails since they can do environmental damage if released into the wild.

I'm sure there are breeders in CT as well, I think these snails are too popular for there not to be any.

I got my snails at all pets club :). Maybe she was confused or maybe she just doesn't know what she's talking about. This is the same woman that swore up and down there was no such thing as a 25 gallon aquarium. Oh well lol

Where in CT are you? I'm at UConn and the LFS in Vernon and even at the local Walmart and PetCO all carry mystery snails.

I'm not sure about the western half of the state (even though that's where I'm from :eek3: - college for ya), but I know out here you can find stuff
