NO substrate vacuming!!!!

I don't get what the big deal is...he's talking about not gravel vac'ing...he's not talking about ditching water changes.


Like I said, I quit gravel vaccuming years ago. I've kept many sensitive species, never had any issues.

I never gravel vac my planted tanks either. (Especially if they have sand substrates.) I'm with Sploke in that if an area develops a buildup of mulm, I'll either siphon around that area or kick up the mulm and net it out or let the filter get it. I keep my planted tank beds with a healthy population of MTS, as well. They help break down the larger pieces of mulm and their waste is the perfect plant food for the heavy root feeders.
