Are there any non digging cichlids that can go into a heavily planted tank? Mostly looking for some medium size species(like 6-7"). I used to have a 55 with africans and they up rooted everything but the rocks lol

ya, there are but i dunno which ones
because i went to my relatives house and he has like 30 cichlids and none of them diggs,
and his tank is planted too, but not heavily

he had two kinds, one is orange all over and has orange dots on its fin
and the other one has an eye like marking behind its gills and it sorta brownish striped

Most cichlids I've found will dig lots. Some I've found who don't dig at all:

Any Tropheus (expensive and tough to feed with other fish as they require veggies only)

Dimidiochromis compressiceps AKA: Malawi Eye Biter - Fairly aggressive to tankmates and will eat small fish. They will normally only attack from behind, never seen it eat eyes before.

I have an Altolamprologus Compressiceps as well and it doesn't dig up plants at all, but it does dig caves under rocks and such.

If you have a huge problem with digging get java fern and attach it to some driftwood. It'll grow really nice and your fish won't hurt it if they dig as it's not in the gravel.

The south american dwarf cichlids work great in planted tansk. Here's a list of a few. Just google search to find profiles on them. You will most likely be limited by availability in your area. Alot of lfs only carry rams and kribs. I wouldn't recomed rams unless you know they came from a good source.

Blue Rams
Bolivian Rams (much hardier)
Apistogramma species (Apistogramma is the genus name, most don't have common names)
Keyhole cichlids
Checkerboard cichlids
Kribs
Nanacara

Research them well, and be aware that most of these will not tolerate multiple males in small tanks.

I have blue acaras in 3 tanks and they dont dig at all

Thanks for all the suggestions guys still researching :) Thinking about some keyholes and maybe rams or Apistogramma
