thanks to some {edited} who dropped off 3 large female leopard geckos in front of work early monday morning before opening, i've a 1/2 10g terrarium that i've removed the top trim from and re-sealed so i've now got a rimless 1/2 10g aquarium that i picked up a pair of DPs for yesterday. i'm looking for tankmates that won't jump, so far i'm thinking BBGs but i'd like to use RO water on the tank in combination with several large pieces of driftwood so i don't exactly think they'd thrive in the tank. i would love some cardinal tetras or scarlet badis but i'm not sure how jumpy they'd be and i saw some gorgeous t-bone hasboras when i picked up the DPs but they looked a bit twitchy like they were going to be fairly active once they settled down and i think they might get a bit big. there was also some hummingbird tetras and i saw some dwarf cories for sale at capital last time i was there.

I carry scarlet badis(es?) and they don't jump at all. In fact, they aren't very big on going to the surface. They really love swimming around and hiding in plants. Java moss is an A+++ in their tanks :) They bend and swim through it, very neat. Not to mention the green from the moss and the red from the badis go really great together!

sweet, i saw some at capitol aquarium last time i was there and they looked really neat. so far i've got some very fine white sand and i'm going to be growing java or christmas moss on the base of the driftwood and anubias further up, if i could figure out a way to grow them without putting in more sand i'd have some cryptocorynes too. i can't wait to get this tank full set up, if i get it looking right its going to be beautiful.

i do mean dwarf puffers, i've kept them before in community tanks, as long as you don't have fish that will harrass them they are fine. if they do start looking stressed or i happen to get one that likes picking on the other fish i've got 3 other tanks and know several people who would love them.

definitly, they're a really neat fish, one of my favorites in fact. i used to have one named waldo who got his name from the fact that he would dissappear in an 5.5g cube full of enlders, if he didn't want to be seen then nobody could find him and if you weren't going to feed him then he wasn't interested in coming out to play, eventually i put him into my 29g community tank.

ok, back to buisness-it is not that dwarf puffers will be harassed, its that dwarf puffers will harass the other fish. species tank only, or heavily planted with otos.

badis would be ok with neons, or other tetras such as lemons or rummynoses.

the DP that i had was very peaceful and everybody i've talked to that has actually kept DPs in a community tank said theirs was peaceful as well, i'm sure that there are a few bad eggs but just like bettas, some can be kept in community tanks and some can't, i'm sure that they're a safe bet and if not then its not a problem as rehoming them will take less than 5min for me to set up a QT.
