Non-planted lighting bulbs

Aqua-Glo. It gives a bluish-white cast and makes the fish look nice in my unplanted tank.

I like the bright white. Is there a large spectrum light that discourages algae growth? Good question btw

Every single bulb will promote algae growth if left on long enough. If you don't want algae in a non planted tank only leave the lights on for short periods of time, like 2-3 hrs at a time.

For color enhancement it depend on the color of your fish. Full spectrum daylights (6,500k) will provide a good overall improvement over most standard fluorescents. GE makes a 9,235k bulb that really brings out the red in fishes while bulbs with a kelvin rating of 10,000k or above brings out the blues much more.
