Nontoxic paint?

I recently had to do a water change in my 10g tank and although i washed my hands, i didnt get all the paint off. I then changed the water and now am concerned that the trace elements on the paint (the paint was dried and flaked off also had been washed) will harm the fish or my nitromosis? Can someone tell me if there is anything to worry about?

I believe there is a chance of chemichals been freed into the water, as paint has very strong components in it.

You'r best action might be to do daily 35-40% water changes for 3 days to reduce the chance of contamination, and use a strong aireation meanwhile.
This will help evaporate contamination from thinner or any solvent you migth have used.

Keep and eye on the fishes for any unusual behavior.

Ah, those are acrylic water-based paints. Good!

What brand and type? I use a lot of Tulip matts and velveteens.

Assuming they didn't have any additives (things that make them puff out when you dry them with heat, etc.,. Velveteen is one that does that) and it was dry and not wet paint, there shouldn't be a problem. I always have dried paint stuck to my arms somewhere and it doesn't wash off. It peels off

Take patoloco's advice for ease of mind, but also vacuum the surface of your gravel to pick up any loose bits. Any paint that came off your arms would either float in the water and get sucked into the filter or rest on the bottom. It really doesn't dissolve once it's dried.

Don't worry too much. Just take precautions and your fish will be fine.

Yes it was tulip and im glad to hear your encouraging input, i thought i had killed them all, and yes it was dry, and no not puffy paint or anything just Tulip farbric paint.
