Noobie here saying hi and question

Hi all!! Been lurking and finally registered

I have a 55 gallon planted community tank, so far it has been a dream after having a large turtle for years(very very messy), but I seem to have a few fish getting body fungus. Especially the platys. I've used the jungle tabs before with good result, but just checking to see if there is a better solution that people have tried.

Also when do you know a C02 system would really help the plants? any drawbacks to the fish's health with a C02 system?

Welcome to AC! You mentioned that you had used Jungle tabs before, is this a reoccurring problem? co2 is usually driven by the type of setup you have. What lights are you running and your photo period. The only way co2 is harmful to fish is if you have too much injected.

I've used jungle tabs before for other tanks that I have had. I just got some fungi-rid @ the store yesterday. Not sure how that will work, but since they were out of the jungle tabs I'll give it a shot.

I'll have to check about the lighting. It is nothing fancy and after putting alot of money into my turtles lighting needs (2 infrared, 2 UV, 1 full spectrum FL) I wanted to start small and work up to a good lighting system.

What does the fungus look like, there are bacterial infections that can look like fungus, ie; white and fuzzy.

Most tanks don't need CO2, what kind of substrate are you using? if its regular gravel and you are not dosing with fertilizers chances are that you wont need CO2.

yeah it is like a fuzzy white little booger . Not sure how to tell between bac infection or fungus though

I'm using fertilizer, but have reg gravel
