Just wondering if Cory the male Betta is acting normal...

He paces a helluva lot at the front of his tank...to the point where I'll stick my finger in the top to get him to stop cause I'm sure he'll get exhausted : (

I keep his temp at 78-80F

I feed him once a day, varying with Betta granules, live bloodworms and freezedried bloodworms

I keep him in a 3g tank, with adequate places to hide

He has no signs of sickness

So yeah.

?

He sounds fine to me. :thm:
Bettas are very curious and like to explore, so he's just checking out his neighborhood. He won't get exhausted. :)

Yea, I agree, he sounds pretty normal! They are active little guys. I, however, am worried about my little Viper, He pigged out last night and went in his covert secret cave and we havent seen him since (now that is not so normal)! Just keep and eye on him, and pleeeze dont make my mistake of thinking, o he must need to eat:cry:

XD

I'm sorry but when I read that I had to laugh...Bettas always referred to as 'little fatties' LOL.

To be sure its not a water param prob, have you checked those?

Other than that, it sounds like normal betta behavior..:)

I made the mistake of wanting a fish a fish on my desk at work and he drives me crazy! If I don't pay attention to him he paces back and forth then he will pick up gravel and spit it out and if that doesn't work he drapes himself over his moss ball and looks very tragic. I can't resist the last behavior and he knows it. LOL

I've only had Cory for 12 days, so I've only tested the water once (I test both my tanks once a week).

The params were;
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 1
Nitrate - 40
pH - 8

I know the nitrite is wayyyy too high, but it's going through a mini-cycle. I added aquarium salt, at only a 6th of the recommended dosage cause I dunno how Bettas handle salt.

more water changes are a must for nitrite that high.

:iagree:

Bettas like very clean water. (Well, what fish wouldn't?) I wouldn't wait for your next weekly change, but do one as soon as you can, then monitor that nitrite very closely.
