If you took a little peice of media... piece of filter. Maybe you have a tank with the same gravel she'll be using? Could put some of that in hers too. Or even of its a different, you can put some in a media bag. And place it on her gravel, to be removed later. A carbon bag you might have sitting in one your filters, for a few weeks, would have some bacteria on it. Plants, rocks(fake or real) will have bacteria on them. ETC's......

Depending on the filter she'll have. You can put some of your filter material in hers.

If you don't have a filter for hers yet. An Aquaclear works great for this type of thing. The other day, I cut a couple of small peices of foam off of my big pond filter. Put them in my lil AC on a new 10g, and was taking care of a betta just fine with in three days.

would using "fluff" (the polyester pillow fluff like form the old style in tank filters) put in the HOB filter work?

I mean take a few pinches, put it in my HOB filter... then after a week or two start a new tank up and place the "old fluff" in the new filter resivar and be good to go?
