nothing but a tank

i would put a great white shark in that tank. sounds perfect to me. ;-)
P.S. Roan, Don't take no crap from that guy. your right. fish need filtration first, then heat. i mean go to www.drfostersmith.com and buy a filter for 15 bucks and a heater for 10. if not, don't torture any fish you want to throw in there. or go to walmart and buy some plastic fish. then you wouldn't need heat or filters or even food.

please remove lips from roans hind quarters. in any place of business you would be sued by now.

if you havent been around long enuff to know ill fill you in. roan hasent taken any crap from anyone since i been here. most of us dont.

Oh forgot to add this to my last post. A typical house is usually around 70 degrees. There for the tank water would probably be at room temp. aka ~70 degrees

lund google it and compare with a few other sites profiles. problem with profiles is they are often either very controlled or very generalized when studied. and you dont know if whoever wrote the profile even owned the fish or just looked up the information.

i keep a tank at room temp (my house is useually warm though because my mantises cant take the cold) i have guppies in it.

i have ZERO problems with them they are acctually more active and seem to have more personality than when i had them in a heated tank. now my betta did poorly in my room temp tank so i moved him back to a heated one.

now im not gonna sugest you go and try it cause i dont know what temps your house is at and secondly and most importantly i have a heated tank to move them to if there were problems. im guessing you dont.

a heater and a filter would run you about 20 bucks if you got it for a 10 gal size . and it would support enuff to give you time to get a suitable sized one.

thanks guys ill think about it :thm: i might need to get a fiter but thanks for taking ur time to write 4 me ;) and about u other guys .. :cool2: peace out :cool2:

hey get 1 of thease lights, put it a little lower. if u have 12-15$ and if you get a diffrent filter put it in. then you can put any fish that is suitable for a 20 gal... thats the only way i can affored it.

In my world.....people come before fish and I always try to consider the person I'm speaking to when trying to help out with whatever issue they are dealing with or asking about.

You can make suggestions to folks and try to help them make the right decisions for thier tanks....but you can't MAKE them do anything and being rude doesn't exactly cause anyone to want to listen to anything else you may have to offer. All it does is create threads like this one where everone gets in a flaming frenzy spitting off a bunch of "OH YEAH.....well YOUR mother wears COMBAT boots!" kind of responses.

I have found that just not offering any more advice to someone like that is about all you can/should do. Just a "This is what you aught to do....blah blah blah....." and if they listen fine...if they dont'

Gee, I feel so much better now....."Group Hug"

the thing is i live in new zealand and our market is a ant compared to the USA our filters cost double of what you guys say to and the light u said to me **fishisme** those cost 50bucks here lol even filters cost heaps!! aquaclear 20gallon costs 50dollars i mean cmon!! :thud:

No hermit crabs either. They can actually get to be a substantial investment. They need proper heaters made to go on the underside of the glass tank, sand or special hermit crab bedding made from coconut fiber or other special ingredients, special food, and a large assortment of shells to pick and choose from.

As others have said, no goldfish since they MUST have filtration & no bettas because they MUST have heat.

I'd try to swing a filter and then get some white clouds, if it were me. Otherwise, you might make or buy a lid for the tank and get a hamster...it's not a fish but wouldn't need the specialized gear (though you'd need a hamster water bottle...) Just make sure you don't get a pregnant female or your nightmares will have just begun.

I agree with the white clouds! No heater needed, and if you do frequent water changes I think you could get away without a filter. If you cycle it first and have gravel substrate the bacteria should be able to set up shop in the gravel and you should be ok with good frequent water changes. Sorry to hear about the prices where you live, that really sucks man. Have you considered buying from the internet? If they ship to you you should be able to get better prices, I hear bigals is a good site, but not sure were they ship to. Good luck with whatever you do.
