NTD Question.

Thanks Wayne, I tested my tap water last week and it is between 0 and 5. I have been doing about 20% water changes weekly, but I did not keep up on them when I set up the tank (I used water, gravel and filters from a different tank to avoid cycling). This was about 3 months ago, and I have been doing weekly maintenance for about the last month and a half. I'm assuming not doing the maintenance from the beginning is what has gotten me in trouble :sad

That would do it!!! You must be pretty well stocked as well to have it still be so high after six weeks of water changes.... If it were me I would do daily 25-30% changes until it was under control, then let let my nitrate test results drive how often and how much water to change from then on.

Update

Just wanted to Finish this thread with how it all ended up. (To many threads end without resolution) It's been two weeks of watching and waiting and no other fish have shown any sign of the disease.... So I guess I can say with some confidence that not putting down the last four neons was a good decision. Removing fish sick with NTD at the first sign and not letting any die in the tank seems to have been an affective way to stop the disease spreading. (at least it worked in this case) I hope this will help others who have to deal with this disease!!
