HI,
I'm an avid coldwater marine man....have kept a 200 gallon cold tank going for some time now.I'm lucky to live on the coast of southern New Zealand, where I'm able to collect my specimens by snorkelling,(with wetsuit...the seas are cold around here!).We have a great variety of jewel anemones, which my tank mainly displays.I feed them regularly with brine shrimp, and clam/seaweed pulp, fed through a turkey baster. The tank's also got a great variety of local shrimp, hermits, starfish and snails, live mussels and clams....almost a complete biotope, with most of the critters either feeding/cleaning or catching whatever comes their way! The seawater here at the bottom of the Pacific is pollutant free....I collect, and store it in 40 gallon buckets in the garage.I run a 1 horsepower chiller, keeping the water at around 55-60 degrees, with plenty of water movement,(Tunze 6045's blasting away). The lighting is pretty standard,1x daylight tube, and 3x actinic tubes, giving a nice, but not too bright look to the tank.
I'm trying to load a photo....if it works will load a few more....great to read all your stuff from up there in the Norhtern Hemisphere!
