I think there is a connection between the two.
Does anyone else?

OK
I would categorize it with hoarding do a degree.

It might be categorized as hoarding if it negatively impacted your life. Like, say, the kids not having a place to sleep because the bedrooms are full of fishtanks. Or not being able to keep a job because you're always calling off to maintain the tanks. Otherwise, if you"re an adult who is functioning reasonably well, your kids are taken care of... keeping a ginormous amount of tanks is just a hobby, albeit a very involved one, lol.

SO having OCD can only negatively effect your life?

I hate ocd. I have it. I pick at my skin and pull out my hair a lot, although that's more of a pure compulsion. The real OCD for me is more the intrusive destructive thoughts and impulses I get. They scare me so much, I'm afraid I'll lose control and act on them one day.

Not every aspect of OCD is bad. Caring about how stuff looks for example isn't necessarily bad, but someone with OCD values it more than someone without the disorder, to the extent that at some time somebody coined the term OCD.

well the bad part about OCD I think is that people like that are always bothered, because things are never going to be perfect. My obsessions don't revolve around things being perfect though.

My little sister's been to the mental hospital a few times for really bad OCD. She'd stand in the bathroom, naked (wouldn't wear clothes), washing her hands screaming and crying and having people turn the faucet off and on for her because she didn't want to touch it.

But my mom is abusive and the household is chaotic so I think that triggers it and negatively impacted her development.

I can't see anything good about OCD. Not when you really have it. In movies, shows and books they make it out like mental illness is a good thing, and that mentally ill people are smart (monk, a beautiful mind, girl interrupted). But in real life, I can't see anything good about it. I've been in mental hospitals myself and it is way romanticized. There is nothing cool or good about it, with the exceptions possibly of hypomanias that induce creativity and productivity.
