My tank sitting over the kitchen sink area leaked and soaked/ruined the hardwood flooring as well as some carpeting beyond the hardwood area. It'll cost me maybe $3500 to dry out the carpeting and perhaps some of the insulation and floorboards underneath. Maybe another $5000 or more if my hardwood flooring starts to warp and needs to be replaced also.
Surprisingly 4 of the 6 A.australe killiefish in the tank survived though the tank was drained completely and remained so for at least 2 days. when I tried to pick up the fish, I found them jumping around. I am no longer at a point in my life when I can afford to pay for such unplanned and expensive repairs to the house. I have taken down this 30gallon tank. I may think about taking down my 75gallon tank as well for fear of similar mishaps. Just wanting to share my troubles with some strangers. :(

Dont give up on the hobby just like that. Where did it leak? If it was around the edges, it was probably from the silicone, maybe it was too thin in a spot. If your put silicone over it it might stop leaking.

Are you positive that the surface you had it sitting on was perfectly level? if not, this can cause stress to the seals and over time can be devestating! I'm sure you know more than most of us the problems that can be caused by mishaps! Sorry to hear about your misfortune.:(
