Oceanic BioCube 8 gallon nano

I haven't been able to see my goby after lights out, even though I have bright moon lighting on the tank. I'm not sure where it's headed at night.

As for the shrimp, I'd say $18 is a little high, but not terrible. They are $15 here. Your peppermint shrimp, goby, and clown should leave them alone.

Will they find suffiicient places to hide in my tank even though I have at least a month before I can start adding some coral? I've got some live rock right now of course, and I do want to be able to see them, but do you think they will be comfortable in this tank?

Here's a picture:

I definitely would not recommend a clownfish for a 6 gallon tank. I chose the clown goby based on its activity level- it's better suited for a small tank because it tends to perch on LR/coral. The clownfish is just too active IMHO for such a small space.:(

However, this is JMO and people do keep clowns in smaller nanos occasionally, it just isn't something I would do.

You need more LR. Like...12 pounds total. And you're probably gonna get a mini-cycle.

He might be eating polyps right now, they are prone to do that with soft corals especially and aren't thought of as reef safe.

Yup. I read up on animals before adding them. I researched the shrimp and found that it was reef-safe "with caution." I've been keeping an eye on all my coral and it looks exactly like it did before I added the shrimp. I still haven't see the shrimp even once since acclimation, and I'm not sure that it made it through the process at this point. If I have any issues, I'll simply return it.

In light of your recommendation, some more live rock today. brings my total to 8.5 pounds. With 10 pounds of live sand.

Great. The recommended amount of LR is 1-2 lbs per gallon so 8.5 sounds pretty good. Don't forget to watch your parameters. You'll more than likely be getting a mini cycle.

Sorry for the thread hijack, severum.
