Octopus tank (log)

Wow this thread is amazing. I should really be studying for a Spatial Analysis exam, but I just couldn't stop.

I really love the way you can interact with him like how I saw in the videos! It's almost like you have a little dog... except he's in a tank... and has double the legs... upon further thinking he's nothing like a dog.

It's all your fault :)
:D
looking forward to it. have any names in mind yet?

well he does like digging like some dogs and hes got into the habit of "begging" for food. around feeding time he will crawl across the glass and rapidly change color :P I also end up playing tug with him sometimes to get a feeding stick away from him.

good luck on that exam lol

lol sometimes that stretching looks so painful to me. It looks like he might split into two :)

Is there a way to see his camouflage abilities (color change), if he has them? I don't know much about this particular breed.
try watching him squeeze headfirst through his tunnels under the rock when his eyes scrape up against the rock:crazy: lol

as for camouflage he doesn't seem to be concerned with camo when hes out and about. when hes hiding its hard to get a good pic/vid. ill see what i can do though. i need to get new batteries for that camera.

fluffys still growing bigger by the day and has about doubled in size since i got him. (:

his mantle should max out at 6 or 7 inches

hes gotten to be more active and has about 1/5th of tank bare bottom from his digging. all the sand pushed up against the glass makes it easier for him to hide(he outgrew his conch shells a couple weeks ago)

for whatever reason he lost his interest in the hermits, 4 are still alive. the rest got eaten in the first couple of weeks. the sand sifting star disapeared weeks ago so i assume its dead. i cant think of what whould kill it though. maybe its just chilling under the sand bed(sand sifting star).

ill have a bunch of pics to post later today. :D

Sand sifting stars run out of food fast in small tanks...especially considering how new yours is.

They just eat all day and all night...he probably just ate all the fauna in your tank.

Or, maybe he's still lurking somewhere. ;)

cant seem to load up the new pics tonight, so ill post them tommarow. as for the star it was small with arms about an inch long. with all of fluffy's leftovers and stuff in the sand from uncured rock from cycling i thought their would be enuff to keep him feed. i never even saw the star explore the right side of the tank. but he could have striped the whole tank of food during the nights. im still keeping an eye out though (:
