Odd mouth problem with mbuna

I have to wonder though, how the heck did you get her to let you open her mouth when she's holding?

Just netted her, held the fish and used a fingertip to gently pull her lower lip down a bit.

I was afraid that she had gravel stuck in her mouth as well as first, that's why I netted her. If I'd been sure it was eggs, would have left her alone.

On the positive side, my g/f reports seeing her 'fanning' the eggs, kinda opening and closing her mouth to get water flow over them.

My parrot has the same problem your fish had .

Hello
My parrot seems to have the same symptomes your fish had last year, with the rock in its mouth. Has your problem been solved? My parrot is alone in the tank I don`t think it could be eggs. Hope your have an answer for me I`m quit worried.
Thanks

Yes, mine definately had eggs. She is alone, but has had several sets of eggs since. Doesn't eat for awhile, but I figure if she is having eggs, she must be healthy anyways...
If you feel comfortable doing it, what I did was to net the fish and carefully use the tip of one finger to pull her lower jaw down a bit. The eggs were yellow/orange colored.
