So I planted my tank about a month ago. About 2 weeks ago I found a little black snail in the tank. Remove it. A couple days later I found another. Then another a couple days later. And today I found one. I just keep removing them as I see them, but I'm wondering if anyone can Id this thing for me:

looks like a pond snail to me. common hitchhikers on plants

that's what I figured.

I've been putting them in my gf's 6 gallon betta tank since she seems to enjoy them. Will they eat the plants?

only dead or dying ones.... to keep them limited (because the population is known for exploding), be sure not to overfeed the fish and that your parameters are always in check.

What DD said, i find common snails to be a great gauge of overfeeding and maintenance as they can only grow to great numbers with an ample food source. Whenever I see them starting to increase in numbers in my tanks, I know its time to up the vacs, decrease feeding, adn look at the health of my plants. You can also squish them as a treat for your fish, my betta loves squished snails for snacks.
