I just came across an LFS selling Odyssea Cube-7 aquaria for $39.95

A seven gallon cube, they come with a flip-up lid with a 13 watt PC daylight bulb and this cute little internal filter which is basically a cylinder with a powerhead pushing water into the back half of the cylinder and through a filter cartridge, out the front half down a little spillway.

The filter is lame but I'll just stuff a little filter floss in the bottom and topping it with some sintered glass bio media.

My question is, is $39.95 a fair price? I won't quibble over a few bucks because I prefer to buy locally, even though I don't like this particular LFS so much - they sell painted glass fish, glofish, and those bizzaro overbred discus boosted with hormones - the ones that look like toy plastic fish.

All that aside, is it a decent price? Does anyone have any experience with this model, have anything to say about it good or bad?

My thought about the light is that the tank is not very tall so the light intensity should be pretty good at 13w/7gallons. I want to start a teeny little Diane Walstad style tank, with soil under gravel (I'll probably use sand) substrate.

A nano-walstad?

Yes it is a decent price kinda like a eclipse clone they sell for around the same price 39.99 here.

I could only find one reference to it online. It includes a pic of what looks like an Oceanic or some other nano-cube. The actual cube-7 looks a lot like that but with a glass back rather than a big filter. Just the styling on the lid is different, appearance-wise.

I decided to get the thing so I'll be posting real pics as I set 'er up.

The ad lies about the filtration - it's internal, cartridge based, not wet/dry

It's a glass tank. The filter is just one of those activated carbon sandwiched between mechanical filter fiber cartridge deals so it's probably inadequate for saltwater.

I'll be setting up a planted tank - the sort with soil for it's sub-substrate. It'll be my first nano-walstad tank.

I found it for $29.95 now - I can't resist!
