Sorry it has been a while guys but i will start cycle this week for sure and i just have to add more sand because the peat moss is coming out... would a planted tank look good with a blue background???

UPDATE 5/27/08

Its been a while since i post up so here you guys go. Got filter so i can start cycle. Bought i bunch of hairgrass and it looked nice in the pot and runners were coming out of the pot so i just burried it with the pot. As soon as im cycled i plan on putting more hairgrass and put in the wood which i figured out was still dirty so i am still washing it.

FYI-different species of shrimp sold under "ghost", most require brackish for fry to survive

yea i figured it out. Somehow a new guy at wal-mart cleans, maintains, and tested his water when i went and he told me that about ghost shrimp i was like wooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwww.

Black backgrounds look much better than blue ones in my opinion

Yea i think so too but i am not going to paint it because the back wall is a darkgreyishblack color and it dosent look that bad.... Also is there anything i shold know and how do you guys think im doing so far...

Yea its microsword i just have it in my mind that it is hairgrass...

1. Is there anything wrong with me planting the swords in the pot ?
2. What do you guys think so far of my tank ?

if you want a shrimp that will reproduce in the aquarium you should try red cherry shrimp as they reproduce pretty readily if their are not enough fish to eat everything and if you put something over the filter intake
they also look pretty good as they are red against the green of the plants
