IT WORKED

Well i woke up this morning and now i am getting about 2 bubbles every 3 seconds, i am so excited and now i hope my swords grow.

1. Going to petco tomorrow should i buy some excel or "plant food" ?

Can anyone answer me or give me concerns or something ?

I have driftwood in my tank that was not intended for aquariums, at least no fish ones. I believe they were for reptiles. I have had them in my tanks for 3 some years without any problems. The wood gets weaker over time (i have broke off one piece at a thin part) a lot quicker than the traditional driftwood, it is also a lot thinner. It has not tainted the water, or grown a fungus, but that is no reason yours couldn't. you just have to watch it I do not have mine in an aquarium with a pleco either, its with a jack demspey that likes to move it around (maybe another reason the piece broke off.)

If you like the wood, keep it. Just keep en eye on it.

As far as plant food, I just stick with co2. If you wanted to add more, i use to use excel flourish and excel iron. I stopped because at the time my tank was not heavily planted and i could not justify spending the money for the little results i got.

Hopefully someone with more experience can answer as well.

Thanks on the wood guys but now i have a new problem. My co2 has gone from 3-4 every 3 seconds to 1 bubble every 9 seconds ???????? Can you help please.

(6/4/08)

Went down to petco and bought a check valve and an air stone. I made a new batch of co2 mix and now the co2 is working better and has alot of bubbles coming out i am so excited. I also bought some type of Sword (need ID), 1 Ghost Shrimp. The plants i bought had some snails in there and now there are a bunch growing like crazy and roaming around.

Coming together nicely!

The bubbles slowed down because, as the concentration of alcohol increases in the mixture, some of the yeast begins to die, hence, slower bubbles (the byproduct of anaerobic respiration of co2 and alcohol, someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Keep goin! :D
