Ogre's 44g Build

IME, eupyllia like torch corals like low to moderate flow, enough to ripple their tenticles, but not enough to tear away tissue, which IME is what happens in very high flow.
 
I have seen my torch coral do best with intermittent flow. Get a burst of flow to hit it and then rest. When i did this it opened up more than it ever has. Also watch for their sweeper tentacles they get quite long.
 
Talked to the LFS where I got the liverock from. They said it was a pistol. I'm inclined to agree... just because i don't want to do another mantis hunt.

KH is low 7.5-8
pH is low at 7.8
calcium is highish at 600
salinity is 1.025

So, I'm going to dose a buffer solution for the next week and plan to have some ocelaris in for Friday.


I'm forgoing fish this weekend, in the interest of getting the Chemistry more stable
 
Alk is up to 8.5, I'm going to shoot for 10 and try to hold it there.

It's very odd, I don't think it's directly related to the alk, but after I dosed last night, what seems to be a large porite colony has appeared and I've got hundreds of little baby shrimp. They could be copepods, but they tend to be longer rather than bulbous and have either black or green stripes on their back.

Any ideas on what these are... sorry no macro lens and that's the only way I could get a pic of these things, the biggest may be a quarter inch.

We also found an inch long swimming critter. I have tentatively IDed is as the epitoke of some polychaete worm.

Anyway, that's the update.
