i think i messed up my RO stash...i added some baking soda (supposed to help with something idk much about the reef section of saltwater) and also some de icer lol (reef club president said its the same add calcium) and now my RO stash looks like crap:thud: . Its not clear its kinda whitish and didnt dissolve very well. I added some to my display a while back and it didnt get like this soooo should i ditch it and make new water or just stir it up real good (there is a powerhead already) or just slowly add it to my sump and it will dissolve in? i can take a pic if ya want
 
You added this directly to RO water? You caused a precipitation event--soluble calcium and carbonate dropped out of solution as insoluble calcium carbonate. Stick to just adding plain RO water or kalkwasser. What is the active ingredient in your deicer--is it calcium chloride or magnesium chloride? Adding baking soda and calcium chloride is fine, but it needs to be added to the tank, not your topoff water. That is actually what commercial 2 part supplements contain.

thats the msds for the de-icer stuff...it is calcium chloride so thats good right? and kalkwasser is the same as baking soda right? either way i guess imma have to trash mywater cause it looks like crap
 
Sounds like the reef club pres was trying to help you with a DIY two part solution. Here's an example of one with nice, clear instructions:

Essentially, you aren't suppose to add the calcium part to the alkalinity part, otherwise it'll precipitate out and create a nice, white snow storm. The two parts are meant to be mixed independantly and added to the tank separately, as needed... not mixed together.
