Oh God Help!!

I wish i knew what was going on, watched my tank slowly die fish by fish.

I cant take that again im just gonna sell anything alive back to my lfs and start over i guess, I dont know i cant think well right now but i talked with the lfs and when i go to sell my corals back i will ask what they think. I dont want to kill anything else.

Thank you all for the help i will more then likely be starting over and when i do i will make sure to give you all a list b4 i do maybe you will spot something that will cause me problems later.

Thanks agian and take care everyone, Till next time :bowing:

Ahh one thing i just thought of and if this is it im going to prolly die

but just a few days b4 my 1st fish died my powerhead broke and i did not have lot of money so i could not get another. so i just had this little one i is pointed at the surface. Was this what caused my tank disaster?

Im sorry i did not say anything about that b4 it just never crossed my mind

you are the only one who knows what happened, if you think about it. if you ran your tank for two years without any problems then think of what it is that you have done differently and what new you put in the tank lately, unless of cause the desease broke out or loose current ran through your tank. don't give up! many who started out in this hobby lost fish, corals, or inverts for unknown reasons at the time. please, also note that the test kits at the store could be off. the reason i say that because i use liquid test kits and i took one of the fishes back one time and they were testing lots of ammonia, but it was testing 0 with my tests. on top of everything, if the fish is already ill, it's not a good idea to carry it around. also there was lots of info missing, so nobody could figure out the problem, because nobody knew about how you take care of your tank and everything that you ever put in it. cheer up! and welcome to the dark side of reef keeping (just kidding)

Wild guess, and I hope I'm wrong but I'm thinking Odinium. It's an opportunistic bug best killed off by, you guessed it, Copper .

Best of luck. Find someone at a zoo or LFS who has exp. w/ odinium...

How many gph was the remaining pump rated for? fish need 10-15 times per hour you corals need a min of 20 times per hour.

Almost right Squawkbert i did a lot of research and found that it is Brooklynella its a type of saltwater ich. At the onset fish may scrap up against objects, rapid respiration develops, and fish often gasp for air at the surface as the gills become clogged with mucus. Fish become lethargic, refuse to eat, and colors fade, but the most noticeable difference that sets Brooklynella apart from Oodinium is the heavy amount of slime that is produced. As the disease progresses a thick whitish mucus covers the body, usually starting at the head and spreading outward, skin lesions appear. and its sad i did not figure this out b4 i lost all my fish but i am happy to know now what did it and that it wont kill my corals so i dont have to start over

Oh and Squawkbert i would have said Oodinium also sept they never got a whitish, tan to golden colored velvety, powdery or dusty appearance which becomes noticeable on the fishes body as the cysts proliferate. So i went with Brooklynella but they r pretty much the same so good call

Thank you all for the help im so happy i dont have to start over and i know what caused it. I will still have to wait a month b4 putting any fish in to make sure the Ich dies off but thats ok

YAHOOO!!! :D
