Thanks guys. The better looking lab is shining with color. It has quite a bit of black in its fins when he is swimming around. I am happy with them. The other one is almost as nice. As soon as the maingano was seperated, the tank chilled out quite a bit. I notcied my other 2 maingano gaining some color. I tested whether the seperation would work as I let the maingano back into the tank. The 2 large ones squared off for a few min and the one I put up before got the advantage and chased the other one for the next 30 min. I kind of expected some fighting, but maingano are the only fish that I have ever kept that continue relentless attacks. It turned on one of my labs and that was enough for me. I caught it and put it back up. Its leaving very soon. I will prob drop maingano from the stocking of this 55g. sucks as I have grown them out for a few months and invested the time into it. they are just starting to transition into their awesome coloring. I'll be thinking it over on taking out the rest of the maingano and swapping to another species. darn mbuna, lol
I understand your pain! I have grown my albino socolofi juvis up from itty bitty fry and it looks like they may never make it into the main tank. All those months of work and bonding... Good luck to you!
Ya, I hate this. I am thinking of ways to change things up. I may swap species between my 55g tanks. As the maingano seem to think they are big and bad, I was thinking of moving them to my main 55g and putting my 3 albino socolofi in the bottom 55g. The only issue with this is that my male albino is kinda an a hole, lol. so I may end up in the same situation, lol...
