The pond with some Triops
I JUST found out that I have a common pleco. I've noticed people saying that never get common plecos. What should I do? And why is it so bad? I need a pleco so that it cleans dentritus or whatever though, and I can't find a different pleco at my LFS! Do snails eat what plecos eat?

@offtopic :OT:
will leaving an algae disk in open water release algae?

apparently, they grow to 12 in?

and like i posted, what should I do

and please answer the off topic question, as for I'm getting a snail

Snails will clean algae what not in ur tank but can quickly reproduce and over run ur tank, if u want them u have to make sure that u get rid of eggs when u see them

Just take the pleco back tell the store u do not know what it was the worst that can happen is u do not get any money back

I'm thinking of getting only 1, so that they don't multiply.

what should I do with the pleco?

Like i say, please answer the off topic thing

ya one would not multiply but not get alot of work done, u can get more just remove the eggs

Algae wafers should not release algae, at least not live algae. You should remove them after some time, if they are not eaten, because they will decompose otherwise.

The snails I got with my plants seem to eat algae and other stuff on the gravel, plants, and everywhere else. After the snails appeared, my guppies suddenly got hungry ;).

And sorry, I have no idea what to do with a large pleco.

I dunno... I have a 20 gal tank and apple snails tend to grow big...

Dang and it's a sunday, too!

Will snails eat algae disks?

I think that most people buy algae eaters because they like them. I intend to buy some otos whenever I get to setting up a somewhat larger tank, and I'm fully aware that I have to feed them. I don't mind a few algae, and I like some snails in the tank. They seem to be a good indicator for the amount of algae and food in the tank ;).
