Oh No! I think I just lost my favorite snail!

I just went to check again on him. He was floating at the top of the water, still half out of his shell. I figured well he is gone for sure. So I lifted him up and he moved. He moved his foot and retracted his siphon. So he is still alive or is this something that a dead snail body does when its taken out of the water? I put him back in and he's not moving but his siphon is back out. I just wish I knew for sure one way or another. Still no smell.
 
No. I had him sitting right on top of some romaine lettuce and he didn't eat it. He is also ignoring the algae wafers.
 
I just changed his water. I know I'm probably driving people crazy with my obession over this little guy. U should hear my husband, "Lorinda, it's only a snail!" *sigh*
 
It sounds like he's trying. I'll keep sending good vibes your way (and his)!
 
Thanks :) I wish I knew what to do. I guess feeding him and water changes it all I can do.
 
yeah, and leave the lights off when you can just to avoid stressing the little guy =/
