Oh no, Petey has a disease!

if your ammonia is "down", that means to me that previously it was "up". that could certainly have precipitated your current disease issues. i doubt your fish has a "fungus" .. it sounds more like a protozoan issue. if your current 'fungus' med doesn't work, try what i've suggested above.

When I said down, I mean low. Like, very low.

And I would post a picture if I had a digital camera or a scanner.

Like stated above, very low is still an unacceptable level for ammonia to be. A fully cycled tank should test at 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and < 20 nitrate.

 Well I dunno, I just want Petey to be better.

I'm doing a partial water change every day, so yea.

But now he's refusing to eat, and looks slightly ematiated. I've been giving him tiny bits, and he hasn't touched them. I find the flakes sitting on the bottom of the tank, I leave them there for a day or so to see if he'll eat, but then take them out because it could cause an ammonia spike. Why won't Petey eat?

What is wrong with my poor fish??

Is it because he's lonely? He had a very tight bond with my other pearl gourami Rex, and Rex is in the community tank while poor Petey is all alone in his hospital tank. Maybe that has something to do with it? I don't know.
