okay, there is total mayhem going on in my saltwater reef tank. it all started off when my goby jumped out of my tank into the filter of my nano cube. when i tried to fish him out of there, there was a small ammonia spike which damaged my sun coral, frogspawn, and my star polyp. It also nearly killed my fire fish too. anyways ever since then, my water quality seems unstable. there is a rise in nutrient levels which made bubble, hair, and green corraline algea take over. I also noticed some aptisia anemones too. Today when I tried to feed my sun coral, it did not respond to the introduction of food in the tank. Now it is getting me worried because this was a ver expensive peice of coral and i do not want to lose it no matter what. is it possible that it is full? there seems to be a huge outbreak of pods everywhere. I do not know.... plz help!! I am planning on testing my water params tomorrow at my lfs. thanks

in any case, pods arent bad unless there isnt anything to eat them. even then i dont think that they are that bad. i dont have a reef tank so i dont personaqlly know anything about corals. also....how long did it take for all of this algae to be created? algae doest grow like crazy in just one day. for your water conditions, have you tried to do a water change? how long have you had the sun coral in the tank?

yes, I did test the water, and there was nothing wrong with it. I was experiencing problems in the begining of January, but the water conditions finally became stable, so i decided to add a sun coral. It has been about three weeks, and at first it was accepting food, but now only three of the polyps will ope. Today when I was feeding my my three p[olyps, my cleaner shrimp started to dig into the polyp trying to get to the food!!! omg!!! do you guys think that this is the problem why the sun coral will not open? if so, what are some ways to keep the shrimp from trying to steal food from the coral? any suggestions will be helpful. sry i didnt post for a while... I was kinda busy....

You could try target feeding the shrimp first, then the coral afterwards when the shrimp have had their fill...
