well i made it 48hrs with that red crap in my tank and now its starting to come back......its patchy and real light right now but i know its gona get worse...

im guessing it cyano since the pics of that looks more like mine than anything else....

i done a 50%water change just trying to suck it all out but i guess i missed some....

there has got to be a sure fire way to get rid f this stuff....

i guess im just gona have to live with it......
 
keep doing water changes cut the lights and suck as much as you can out, what kind of filtration do you have? if you have a canister or bio wheel clean the media if not replace it. canyo sucks, i've had it but the only way i got rid of it was constant water changes and cut the lights of for a couple days.
 
i have a HOB wisper60..........

i did however notice that i moved my powerhead to the opisite side of he tank and the stuff is growing on the otherside now....

i need to get another powerhead for sure.......

cuttin the light like that wont do anything to the fish or inverts?
 
The only inverts that need light are corals. If you just have fish, crabs, shrimp, etc. you don't even need lights at all.

I've had a back and forth fight with cyano over 2-3 times with my tank. My experience is to cut back on lighting, cut back on feeding, and keep up with the water changes. Also, having a couple of smaller powerheads that keep the water moving in the tank is a good idea. If you have just 1 powerhead, you might miss some places where the cyano is building up.

i only feed them once a day now.........been that way for about a month while i was fighting the bristle worms.........

they would still get light in the tank from the front door and the windows in the living room.....that wouldnt matter would it?
 
its shouldnt mind is near my porch, just keep doing water changes do a big one like 50% then 30% then 20% then see how it is just keep repeating the cycle until it's gone.

RO/DI water will help out alot. Also, get 1 or 2 more powerheads b/c having good flow everywhere will help to get rid of the cyano.
