Well, after the Texas cichlid incident, I've investigated my last fish purchases in more depth. I'm now not so sure the green terror I bought is actually a green terror. It looks somewhat similar in terms of facial coloring and overall body type, but mine seems to have a lot of color on it... something I haven't seen in other GT's I've seen pictures of (although, most have been much larger gt's... mine is roughly 2 inches). I love the colors of this fish... the picture doesn't do it justice. It has so many beautiful colors on it... I want to keep it regardless of it's species... but I do want to know so I can plan for potential problems I may come across.

Here's the pic: (Thanks!)

Ok, this guy is a freakin' idiot. I buy three fish from him, and 2 of them he sells me the wrong thing! Atleast he knew what a convict was. With the Texas... I said... don't Texas' have more "sparkle" to them... he said no, that's a texas there.

with the green terror... the tank had four fish prices listed... but only 3 different kinds of fish in the tank. GT was one of the types listed... I said... do you have any GT's left (as I didn't see any in the tank)... he said "yeah... that's a GT".

I'm going to the store today to complain (I'm aquaintances with the owner... knew him back when i used to manage a rival pet shop... and fyi, we didn't carry fish products)... i dont want to get the guy fired, but maybe he shouldn't be working in the fish department anymore.

so... what's the story with the Salvini's? How large do they get... what kind of aggression issues? you know my current setup... will salvini's be a problem? I like this guy, but if he's a problem, I'm going to take him back.

Salvini are often referred as the "mini guapote"... small fish with a potentially very nasty attitude...with the speed and strength (not to mention a nice set of teeth) to back it up.

What size tank are you going to be using? I don't think I'd try keeping a salvini in anything less than a 55 or 75gal tank (if you want tankmates). You could try for a breeding pair in a 55gal...with an aquarium divider in waiting, just in case :P

I have him in a 66g. He's by far the shyest, least aggressive fish in the tank. He's second biggest and is in the tank with supposedly less-aggressive Africans. One of my smallest fish, a electric blue johanni is by far the most aggressive in the tank... the rest cower to him.
