ok -- salt and cichlids -- help, please

If your tap is hard then you may not need to do anything. If not, or even if so, they can do better with Cichlid Lake Salts. The dosing is not much at all though. Seachem's salt has a dose of only one tablespoon for 40 gallons for Lake Malawi. This is much less than the usual recommendation of one tablespoon per five gallons. Considering these are the saltiest bodies of freshwater (brackish not counted) then you should not exceed this dosing with any salt unless treating for disease.
