OK to mix beta w/ goldfish?

Of course I'm not recommending it, hense why I said uncared for. Roan estimated an average life of 3 years. I shared my betta's experiance to point out that I think she is underestimating the average life span.
Three years in a filtered tank under 5g is pretty much the average cited on the web sites I've checked.

Some people get lucky. Some people don't even get 6 months from them. My betta lived in a 6 gallon filtered, planted, heated palace and he died about 4-5 months after I got him. It's an average, no more, no less.

As with any fish, your milleage may vary.

Yah, that happens :(

From 4 days to 8 years can really skew averages, but they are what they are -- averages.

My sister is taking the betta, & I already gave her the 10gallon aquarium. I upgraded my goldy & pleco from the 10g to a 45g a year ago, & just recently added a baby oranda. Now my family of fishies is complete, & I will probably get a bigger tank pretty soon.

They wont be fine at all. If you like your bettas long flowing fins...wait til he sees that larger goldfish...Ive attempted this and failed...The betta becomes petrified and his fins will split....
