Okay, so moving won't be TOO bad...

So Ft Brag is north of SF? Vandenberg is south of SF, and about 2.5 hours north of LA. Sort of out on the 'tip', where the coastline bends in east. Lompoc is the nearest town--Santa Maria isn't far away, either.

Yeah, I'm not impressed with moving this time of year either. Fortunately, we hit I-15 in Salt Lake City, and then it's only a few hundred miles to Nevada, and from there, we don't have to worry about it snowing, just maybe some rain. We got lucky on this trip, and have a few days to play with for the trip out, so hopefully...

Well, I'll be in town this weekend...and I'm not moving until March! We still have time!

I love the views. The sun sets on the wrong side here.
No it just rises on the wrong side back east. :D

Well you will be a far way off from glass beach, but if you are ever in that area you should go see it. And I can't recall any rout over the sierra nevada range that doesnt get snow on it, so have chains ready. Even if you are taking 395 south you will run into a little bit, and 80 is a definate mess if there is precipitation. Good luck, mabey we can go for sushi sometime ;)
:sim: to A

My sushi dance card is filling up! I'm gonna get fat! But darn, I'll be happy! :)

Ok, OG, tell me.... Sushi on Saturday night means that I get to skip out on my Dad's family Christmas party which is an extremely weird and dysfunctional event (think Jerry Springer and you're half way there!) Sushi on Sunday means I get to pass on going to visit Grandma at the nursing home...

DO TELL!!

;)

I don't know where you will be living but it seems like you mean up north and on the coast. We used to live in Vacaville(between san fransisco and Sacramento) before we moved out here(and now we are moving again). 60 degrees was cold and every year you wore shorts on Christmas. It was definitely not cold. Leaves on the trees year round (or as explained to me later there was summer, summer light, and something else? as opposed to Ohio almost winter, winter, still winter, and construction.)

We take 80 all the way to SLC, then get on 15 and take it south. So, once we're through UT, we're in the green. 15 goes through Las Vegas and the corner of AZ. Then we get on 58 at Barstow and take it across to 99, and then 101. From 101, it's only a few miles. I think it's considered southern CA--it's closer to LA than SF. But, I could be wrong there--could just be making that assumption because it's SO far south from here!

aknif: Well, I can't skip out on Christmas eve or day...Sorry I can't spring you. I could probably make lunch on Saturday--but my sister would be TOTALLY jealous, because she has to attend an open house. :)

So you are swinging way south. You're right you should be safe. And yeah, you will be closer to LA than SF. Lucky, the farther south the warmer it is. Were looking at a blustery 55*F for christmas. Brrrrrrrrrr!! ;)

Ummm...They are forecasting an unseasonably WARM weekend, with highs getting near 55. Yesterday it was down right balmy for the first day of winter--we got up to 50!

Sigh.
