Hi all,

a (non-fishkeeper) friend gave me this old canister filter. After giving it a bit of a clean, it's running, but apparently too slow to generate enough push or pull to move water (forgive me, I know nothing about these filters, or about motors in general).

the label says "Typ 383, Serie 76081"

Any opinions on whether its fixable, and worth fixing?

have you cleaned the impellor? they do wear out and that might just be all you would need to replace and have a nice working filter. did you make sure nothing is blocking the input water tubes and out put tube? they could be gunked up inside blocking water flow.

as RodInCALIFORNIA said test to see if it's the impeller if it's not then go looking to see how mcuh in general a punp for this modle would be. i would try to fix it as long as it wasn't too expensive because Eheims are rock solid and will last a life time.

I wouldn't throw it out....yet. I put a couple feelers out on other forums regarding this filter. Can you post all the other info that is on the tag. Even if it is not repairable, someone may be interested in acquiring it from you. I would even consider it, when and if it would be available.

Bump for more info, please.

Thanks fo your interest guys, and sorry for taking so long to get back. The input and output are clear, and the impeller look fine.

Dudley, I'm going to look at the link now.

Thanks.

that is at 240 hz (europe, asia, and others), not the 120 hz or 115 hz we use in north america. also,m try contacting eheim customer support about this filter and replacement parts. go to eheim's website and you can contact them there. i have in the past and they are most helpful.

I just sent them an email so I will post back with the results when I get them.

Thanks Dudley, you rock.
I'm in Australia, btw.
I had a look at that link, but I couldn'treally follow what parts of the motor was being referred to.
