On the back of my land there are the remains of am old rock chimney!! I got some real nice flat ones with the idea of doing hiddy holes for my fw tank!! I did the vinagar test and there was no fizzies!! Now my question is Besides washing them real good, how can I "cure" em??
bake em?
soak em?
:help:

Don't bake or boil them!

You can soak them in a tub for a couple weeks and test the water parameters. Truthfully a good wash should be enough.

Some may say this is cruel, but... you can also add a few pond snails to check for heavy metals. If they die, you got em and shouldn't add any permanently desired inverts.

any geologists in da house??

also a gratuitous shot of Moby my Violet Goby!!

i am curious why you shouldnt do that

Explosion possibility from trapped / released pockets of gas. :eek3:

OP- I'm no geologist, but I think it may be shale.

not really gas trapped but water... as its heated yeah it can turn to steam and explode the rock
