I will be receiving some Olive Nerites soon. They are currently being kept in freshwater, however I want to acclimate them to brackish water @ sg 1.012. I was wondering if anyone has had experience in acclimating them. I am curious to know about how long I should take to do this successfully. Can I drip acclimate them? A few hours, a few days, or a few weeks? What do you think would be the best method?

you could probably drip acclimate them pretty satisfactoraly, I used to have olive nerites and when I first got them thats how I adapted them form the BW tank they were in to my FW one.

After acclimating them and adding them to my aquarium, they went right to work! They really are doing a great job or getting rid of algea in my tank.

good for you, i've tried it in my BW tank and never lost any but the last 12 i tried in my SW tank died, i think i tried acclimating too quickly(couple hours) but i do have a pair from when i had my high-end BW tank that are doing great.

Did you purchase them online and from where? You are housing them in a brackish tank of 1.012, what is the salinity requirements for the snails to thrive?

So...............in other words......would they survive in 1.005? Hehe

If they can be kept in freshwater, and they can be kept at 1.012, don't you think 1.005 would be fine? :)

Freshwater to marine! They can be kept anywhere inbetween!

Go to aquabid.com
search nerites
make sure you get the "Vittina usnea (Neritina reclivata)"
This is where I got mine and everything was fine!!!!
I think I paid $30 for 10 including shipping.
