I bought this when I bought my firemouth last week and so far no one is even touching it. I threw into my sisters tank and no one is touching it their either. I think my firemouth has eaten one pellet so far and then he dives back into his cave. Should I try a different food? I have tetra color flakes and I'm on the lookout for New Life Spectrum. Is their a more common food that I can find and more importantly, that he will eat? And is there anyway I can get him to come out into the open more often?

--Thanks,

Do you have pictures of your setup? You may not have enough hiding places to make the fish comfortable enough to come out of hiding. It is best if you vary the food diet. Include frozen and freeze-dried stuff in the menu. How often do you use the Tetra? It seems to me you've been sticking to only one food which will not encourage the fish to try other foods.

I feed them tetra and omega one every feeding and I feed them shrimp, blood worms and zucchini 3x a week. The only thing they don't touch is the omega one. I'll post a pic after school today. Thanks.

Well here is the pic of the whole tank and the fish in hiding. Most of the time he hides in this corner or under the heater, the temp is 80 degrees though so I don't think the heat is the problem. Is there anyway I can draw him out and also, how do I wean the fish on to the food that I have if he won't accept it?
thanks

for a tank with fake plants that actually looks nicely done.
as for getting my flowerhorn to eat something it didnt like the first time around i hold off on food for two days. and feed a little bit to see if its willing to eat the new food now.

thanks. I was trying to go for a more natural look. Ok i'll try holding food off for a couple of days.
