Looks like I found the reason for the aggression in my honey gouramis. I came home from work to find a bubble nest!:headbang2: Also my Loach is fully healed and back to his good old self, leaving me one happy dude!! Quick question any1 know if the LFS would buy the gouramis soon to fill my tank as I'm afraid I have no room to house them. To be honest I don't know where to raise them and I leave town on Sat. Couldn't they have chosen a more convenient time? Lastly does this explain the whole not eating thing for the gouramis? The loach is eating again.

Every lfs has a different refund/return policy. You have to asked them. A lot male anabantids build bubblenests and defend them. Are your gouramis truly a pair or both are males?

if you don't feed the fry or separate the female you won't have to worry about raising a bunch of baby gouramis. they are so small they pretty much need live foods like baby brine shrimp and microworms until they get a bit bigger and will take prepared foods. the male takes care of the babies, the female doesn't - she will eat the babies or he will beat her up defending them, or both.

It's deffs a male and female he's been fending her off. You can almost see the territorial line between them. I'll try to get some pics up tonight! Should I destroy the bubble nest to prevent the male from killing the female? I have nowhere to move her and doesn't the male eat the fry too?. Also I'm going away for a week so any recommendations for feeding tablets for the Gouramis and what can I use for my Loach?

on going away for the week, I am only home on the weekends, as i'm in school, so one of my tanks is abandoned at home (my family looks at it and tells me if anythings up, but they don't feed my fish for me). I went to walmart and got a thing called a daily double. it was like $10, and it dispenses however much food you want it to twice a day. it mounts on your tank, and is really handy to have.
other than that, i've had good luck with the feeder cubes by tetra, they didn't cloud my tank. you cut off how much you need for how long you'll be gone.

I bought my feeder from the LFS for $30 (Canadian) and it doesn't work :(. What does yours look like? What model is it?

Does anybody know, If I destroy the fry will the male return to his regular behavior, as i don't want him harassing my other fish while I'm gone.

Why destroy the fry? Female anabantids will obviously be harassed after spawning is done. It's the male's responsibility now to defend the eggs.

Another note: You do not need to leave feeding blocks while you are away. Fish can live without food for a week or two.
