OMG! I just bought a new tank!!

It would also be wise to make sure that the OP has a suitable setup for an angel after it "out grew" the 6g...just a thought.

I personally think the tank would be better put to use as an invert tank. The dimensions are unfortunate in that it is so tall, but I cannot think of a reasonable stocking that would make use of that space. One square foot of tank space just doesn't seem like enough for fish IMO.

Am seriously seeing someone suggest an angel for a 6g tank? Even as a grow out tank that's absurd...

x2 Angelfish grow really fast and a tank that small would stunt it badly..

Here's the problem I have with everyone on this matter. The logic going on here is flawed. Ok so it is 12" by 12". But now tell me, what dimensions are a 5g tank? 4" longer (not much) and 2" shorter (width). So if I asked for stocking sugs for a 5g tank somebody would suggest neons or maybe even a few pygmy cories. A betta, shrimps, maybe a dwarf gourami. But if I ask for this tank people jump out of their seats and say 'oh, no, no, no, don't put any fish in their'! What's going on? A 2" difference is not a big enough leap to go from fish to no fish imo.

it is for an angel...

Umm... I totally see your point, but, just out of love for the angel, I really don't think its a good idea to put the little guy in there. Maybe a school of neon tetras and a betta? Or betta and some shrimps. Shrimps are really cool:) I'm not against putting fish in there, as long as they're the right size. Harlequin rasboras usually stay pretty small too. Well, that and its YOUR tank. If you decide to put an angel in there, its not like anyone here can stop you or will find out for that matter, its just truthfully kinda cruel for the angel. I can see some small fish though. Good Luck!

Well, a 12 inch diameter tube has much smaller footprint than a 12x12 square. Also, I don't think you'd find many here suggesting a 5 gallon of any footprint being a good choice for angelfish. Or to put 2 schools and an anabantoid in a 5 gallon.

Just bought a halfmoon betta. So that's one inhabitant. The tank wont arrive until Monday but I have a vacant 2.5g that I setup a few weeks ago for quarantine... then I think I'm gonna 'try' dwarf shrimps but I bet he's gonna eat them but hey, for 10cents a piece its definitely worth a try. After that I think either guppies, licorice gourami(s) (if they'll get along with bettas, doubtful), maybe asian bumblebee catfish, or some type of catfish but I haven't decided yet.

Catfish?, get a red tailed catfish. That would be perfect for your nano aquarium...........nah, I just joke! Don't get an Asian bumblebee cat and put it with shrimp. If the shrimp can fit in it's mouth, he will eat it. Also, if I recall right, I believe that the Asian bumblebee cats grow to about 5 inches, at that size he'd be a threat to your beta. Go get some pigmy cories and call it a day.
