OMG!!! My Plecos eyes are gone!!! AHHHH!!!

Thanks guys. :( At least I know we did everything we could for Daredevil. He gave it a good fight, too.

I am soo sorry . I was thinking he would have made it all the way through, was awesome to check back and see his progress improve. You definitely did everything you could though, he was lucky to have such a dedicated caretaker.

Thanks dreaded. I thought he would make it too. I think he was finished fighting when his eyes became irritated a second time. His appetite diminished and he didnt suck on the walls anymore- even when the redness went down, he still didnt eat. He was done trying. :(

Man, that sucks! I'm sorry to hear it. If it makes you feel any better i've never known anyone to keep a fish that wounded alive as long as you did.. Sorry for the loss.. :(

See... now I just feel like a jerk for keeping him alive in pain for so long... :(

Thank you for all the kind thoughts, and to everyone else too.

It's TOTALLY lame, but I had SO much invested and such high hopes for recover for Daredevil I actually shed a couple light tears for him. First fish I ever cried for.

Foot in my mouth!!!!

I think you did the right thing. Most people would have just given up on the fish..

Oh NO!!! I wasnt talking about what you said- I thought that the minute I saw we had lost him. :(

It's OK though. Good learning experience, and he had the best chance he could at recovery!! I think he just couldnt handle it anymore. Saddest part is that the redness was fading and his eyes were nearly 2/3rs the way healed over. Just no more eating or sucking on the walls... so I think he was done trying. Poor thing.

Thank you to EVERYONE who helped me out here- with treatment, moral support, and just the general roller coaster... it was good to have ya'll and thanks for the support today after losing him. :(

Oh, don't feel bad, he really was getting better, and he had such a good shot that I really believe you did the right thing. I remember when I tried really hard to save a Red Devil and he didn't make it -- I only had him for a few weeks but I cried too -- something about the hope that goes into saving a creature, and when it doesn't turn out like you hope, it's sad.
