i was gone the whole day, and i just got home, and turned my fish tank ligghts on for the first time today, and i jusst noticed something horrible.

all my fish are like washed out. BADLY. the neons are like almost grey..the tiger barbs stripes are grey...every fish is moving very slowly. no one is schooling together or anything.

my serpae tetras look like albino tetras almost.

it was supposedly 90 degreez today. but i turned down my heater cuz i knew this was gonna happen. right now my tank reads about 76 degreez so i cant imagine it being like 90 degreez in there..maybe 83 or something tops.

i did get some wood from around lakes and stuff like 4 days ago. i boiled it for about 2 1/2 hours straight, and let it sit in water for a day or two and yeaah..is it cuz of the wood? is it cuz of the heat? WHAT DO I DO MY POOR FISH

iom gonna do a water change immeidately i know that..

They were "asleep". Turn room light on next time first to avoid frightening them.

really really? fish just lose color if the light has been dark for hours? i hope you're right.. lol ive never seen all my fish so discolored lol

did you check your water's parameters? just to be sure, check ammonia, nitrate, nitrite...something must have changed in your water that caused them to suddenly become unhealthy...

well im guessing that lupin is right because although i only have a nitrite and ammonia api test kit, both of those were good, and its been about half hour now, and the fish seem to be gaining color back.

didnt know after so long of lack of light they fade like that.. man i was scared cuz i JUST got all these tiger barbs.

Incidently there's no call to mess with the heater; it's thermostatically controlled so just won't come on if the temperature rises.

The vivid coloring of our fish is a factor of tank lighting. It is normal for them to fade out a lot when they're been in the dark and you first turn on the light. Within half an hour or so with the lights back on, they go back to normal bright coloring.

Hi the first thing you need to do is a 50% water chang
