So the snow melted off a lot today.
I bought plane tickets for my parents so they could come out and spend Christmas with their Grand kids (my brothers children). They get here tomorrow morning. They rented a car and I told my landlord that they were going to park in my spot and I was going to park downstairs. I told him this a week ago.
The plan today, since the roads were a bit better, was that when I got home I was going to run up and spend some time with my bf and then go to the grocery store.
I get home and my landlord had shoveled all the snow from his parking spot behind and underneath my car. I borrow the shovel but by the time I get it everything has dropped below freezing so me going anywhere was out of the question. I decide that I should at least move my car tonight. My landlord comes out to see how I'm progressing and I told him that I have given up on getting out of the complex and am just going to move my car down to the bottom of the hill. He then informs me that the visitor parking is closed and that my parents will have to park 4-5 blocks away and walk to my house.
I have spent the last 20 mins crying to my dad that I don't know what we're going to do. Beings that he's my dad he tried to make me laugh by giving me the play by play of Polar Express that he is watching at the hotel they are at tonight and telling me that it will all work out.

This night has really sucked.

How about yours?

I am so sorry. I do not miss the snow at all. Your dad sounds pretty cool and I am sure it will all work out. Make a cup of hot chocolate, put your feet up and watch your fishies swim for a while.

This'll sound unsympathetic, but let it go. Move on. At least for now, Mannamae. Do what you can to get them to your place and make sure that as soon as they walk into your home, they feel warm and comfortable. Your folks won't want to dwell on it. When you're all together, make sure the time counts and the mood is happy.

Its a bummer that your parents have to park 4-5 blocks away, but at least you will get to spend Christmas with them. You could always be a shuttle between where they park and your place. Or buy them some snow shoes!!

I'm sure it will work out.

My only worry is all the other places they can park are a "park at your own risk" situation, if the rental car gets towed we're sunk. They get here this morning so we will have to figure it out tonight but hopefully tomorrow it will clear up enough that I can move my car to one of those places and they can park at the building.
I ended up walking about 8 blocks last night up to my bf's office and spending the night there watching his sharks dance for me. He rescued me, like he always does.

Thanks for your thoughts :) they are much appreciated.

Set up a bucket of freezing water above your landlord's doorway... Might cheer you up...

Even if he shoveled out your car, he still sounds like a bit of a jerk. If I were you, I'd wait til the middle of the night and spray a hose on his car til it's covered with a few inches of ice. He probably won't shovel your car in again :)

Just kidding of course....
