After 2 weeks I just came out and looked at my fish tank... and what do you think I saw... MY CLOWN LOACH. Hadnt seen him for 2 weeks. Thought he was dead. He swam out and then went back into a hole in one of the decorations. He even survived water changed that went under the decoration.

thanks. I was really suprised, I thought he died. Do you know of a way to get him out of the hole? If he is oging to take up space in my tank I want to be able to see him.

Maybe you need one more CL, BTW, how big is your tank?

I have two CL's and they are very active, swimming around together and such, very playful and competitive. At first they were kind of shy, but that only lasted a couple days, now I see them out all the time.

Oh yea, it's not like my CL's don't have places to hide, they have a big cave(compared to their size) that they love, but they still like to swim around.

i have one in my 20 gal (poor little guy in there for eating snails, but will be moved to bigger tank when he gets older). He doesn't have any friends so he hides much of the day. Reccently he's been coming out at feeding time, and i notice him out and about in the evening.

he has a little spot under the log that he crams himself into- basically digging into the gravel.

clown loaches are very social creatures and really need to be in groups of 3 or more.

i would not disrupt his hiding place- he is hiding to be comfortable. you dont want to make him uncomfortable do you?

if you want to see him more i would get at least another one to keep him company. but keep in mind they grow very large. upwards of 5".

they are neat little creatures.... in time he will become more comfortable and probebly come out more... but i've had mine for at least a year and a half and he still hides a lot.

Well I had 2 but one died. Do you think this is why it is hiding?

It'd probably appreciate some company since they do like to be in groups and can feel vulnerable without others.

Congrats though:) I think I told you you'd be surprised where they could fit!:D

FINALLY! I just saw him out of the tank and I removed the decoration. Crab was on it but I got him off thank god. So now the loach is in the tank.
