OMG! Ok I just had to tell someone how excited I am -- and I figured the folks on AC will understand my excitement (my dear hubby doesn't get my "fish tank weirdness")

Here's a bit of background first: in last summer I moved so I sold my 28 gallon bowfront tank. Then August I bought a used 32 gallon corner tank, but before cycling I decided it just wasn't big enough.... so... I bought a used 45 gallon tank, set it up, but before letting it cycle, I decided it JUST ISN'T BIG ENOUGH!! So....... I just bought a beautiful used (only 10 months old) 75 gallon tank!!!!!! I am so excited! I can't wait to set it up. It'll prob take forever to cycle, but MAN I'm excited!

thanks for listening :) Merry Christmas! (Merry Fishmas??)

:)

Congratulations.
If you need lighting, your local hydroponic shop has single T5HO strips and decent reflectors for under $50.00 and double T5HO with decent reflectors for under $100.00 They are usually far superior to the cheap aquarium fixtures.

By the way, have you seen a 24" front to back x 48" wide x 24" high 120g yet? Having had a 75g for decades, I think that one is just about perfect. ;-)

Awesome!!! Seed it with media from your other tanks... It'll move things along a little faster. :) if you plant the tank it'll move things along really quickly. :) good luck!

OMG... SWEET! congrats and merry fishmas to you.

Ya, a 75 gallon tank is a nice size, I loved my first one. Gives you considerably more stocking options than the smaller ones, even a 55 for that matter.
I was sort of happy to find a good deal on a used 125 (6'x18") right after Christmas last year, finally had a decent size tank for my growing severums and silver dollars that had just about filled a 75.
Finding the 220 a few months ago was the kicker though, 7'x2'x2' is actually big enough to satisfy me. I no longer search craiglist for more tanks.
One of the good things about having multiple tanks is that setting up a new one is much faster. I just swapped filter media from a couple of 75's and added fish.

Congratulations on the 75! I think they are a great tank. Wait until your first water change and you will discover just how big it is! Hope you have a python! 55 and above I don't cycle ahead of time. Since they are so big I just start stocking slow and do the normal 30% (+/-) weekly water changes. It still cycles without harm to the new inhabitants since I stock them very slowly. I keep an eye on paramteres with testings to be safe and it hasn't failed me yet. I won't say it works everywhere but with my well water it works just fine. I also run large filtration (~10 x per hour) on them. Has been about a year since I set up my 75 and I'm still not done stocking it since I am filling it with smaller community fish. Partly a lazy issue since I am for the most part housebound and when I have a chance to get out I am not exactly thinking about fish stores. I have discovered that it takes a LOT of community fish just to make a dent in the appearance!

it's Tank Upgrade Syndrome! :) there is no cure......have fun with it! I want a big tank someday.

Enjoy your new tank! My neighbor talked me into getting a 75 instead of a 55 glad he did.
You'll love it! Merry Fishmas!

75 gallon tanks are great. There is plenty of room to aquascape with.
