Iam thinking of getting this lovely white comet goldfish 6 inche in body length and at least 4 inche in tail fin length, tail fin is shaped beatifully and flows wonderfully, sems healthy.

My QUESTIONS ARE:

Should i do anything from the usual acclimation process to aclimate it from a warm lfs tank to my cold outdoor pond ?

It seems to have what i would describe as a pink wart on its tailfin that is distracting, if i cut it out leaving a circle in the tail would the tail heal back normally if i placed it back into the pond or should i worry about it at all ?

i f i did do this minor surgery i would sedate the fish.

From my own experience, if you do the surgery, I would keep your fish inside in a hospital tank until it is healed. I bought a healthy fish with a clean injury, and between primary and secondary infections, almost lost it. It picked up an infection in the pond, and when I got that healed up, found it had developed a secondary fungal infection that could have been fatal if I hadn't been able to dose it with meds. And trying to dose the entire pond for a naturally occuring thing doesn't make any sense. Its kind of like staph in people. It is all over everywhere, and for healthy folk it doesn't cause any problems, but a weakness or injury occurs and it can give the infection an 'in' to cause all kinds of trouble. Same thing happens in a pond...I would imagine it might be especially vulnerable as the fish's systems slow way down with the cold weather anyway, making it even more difficult to fight off any funk it may encounter.

Oh, and not only did the fin regrow almost completely, so did the gill cover, which was so damaged that most of it fell off, so your fishy may indeed regrow any finnage that you have to trim.

Well i definately wait till warmer weather starts up since the fin wart doesn't appear to negatively affect it except for appearance sake.

well i went to go take a look at the pinkish white goldfish at the lfs and it doesn't seem to be swiming right it sort of spases out so i decided not to get it.
