One newbie's take on red cherry shrimp

i had an rcs hitchhike on one of my plants about 3 months ago...about a month ago i realized there was more than 1 of them. about a week ago i noticed one had a bunch of little yellow eggs in it!!!

how do you keep shrimp from overbreeding? thinking of adding something else in addition to my cories to keep any extra food from decaying on the sand.

I bought 20 cherry shrimp a couple years ago and now still have a steady population of them in two tanks. My fish probably eat many babies but with a heavily planted tank (like you have), they manage to maintain a healthy population. They seem to get plenty to eat just scavenging and grazing.
Nice looking tank you have there.

I have to agree that shrimp quite intrigueing to watch at the moment i have 2 mountain shrimp or wood shrimp or bamboo shrimp i noticed there are a lot of different names for them, im in the process of settin up my 28 gallon tank and im definatley considering investing in some red cherry shrimp as they are nicley coloured, i think they make the tank look more interesting.

I could sit and watch mine for hours as they scurry up and down the tank and even when they are not doing much just sat with their fans out catching bits of food.
my tank used to get a little bit dirty from the leftovers as my cory's were'nt doing their job properly lol, but i noticed when i introduced my shrimp to the tank it started gettin cleaner they are definatley i wise investment i'd say.

Here are my cherry shrimp but they all died. Not sure why, they were all real happy and 'red' then they just disapeared over 1 week. They was a rather 'pink' looking Farrowella Pleck that I think ate them!!

I have no idea, looks good and the shrimps loved combing through it. I guess its some kind of moss, but not sure which type.

It does look really nice and natural just been out shopping for shrimp but came back empty handed, ive got to order some as my local aquatic store is out of stock which is a shame i was really looking forward to getting some..

Great info! What's your pH? I really, really want some RCS for my 10g but my water is very hard and has a pH of 8.0... I want to make sure they'll survive before I get any.
