My femail betta did that 2 me. i was going to feed then had the food in my hand over the top and she jumped 2" out of the water, it was crazy so i fed her and then she ate... it was like she looked at me, i thought i saw her Eye looking into mine. she should not be hungry, i feed her lots every day. creepy...
1) 50-100 times??? no no no. think that betta only ways a few grams and you weigh how many kilo's?
2) yeah, very normal. my male is on the other end of the spectrum though. when i am working in his tank, he swims through my fingers and rubs on my hand the way the cats do on you leg.
they are really really cool. i am a new betta convert and sit infront of his tank for up to an hour, just watching him. my teenager (16yo girl - who hates all animals) thinks he's pretty cool two. i may have to get more. Ya' know what that means?! I GET TO BY MORE FISH STUFF...
Oh, I know. Breaks our heart. Traumatized very young... yup. At one year old, grandma's dog nipped her (grandma was missing a dog when she got home - no we didn't "get rid of her" but we adopted her to a nice lady with no kids. At two years old... the gold fish jumped at her. A week later, the good dog knocked her down trying to share icecream. The same week, a pine moth landed on her foot. She has never been the same. Quite sad really...
But we keep her, eventhough she has zero tolerance for anything with fins/gills/four or more legs/feathers. :dog:
today came home with 3 bags of fish, and as they were floating he excitedly swam from bag to bag tilting his head looking at the newcomers. good thing he hasnt decided they are snacks yet! (fancy guppies.)
after i released my cory cats, he swam to the bottem and laid on the gravel staring, trying to figure out wtf they were.
