Only cold water for water change question.

...just pay your gas bill. :)

If only it were that easy. ;)

It better not be a prolonged issue! Cold showers get old, fast.

In fact, I would normally just wait the few days it will take, but because of all the salt in the water and it's already been longer than normal because of the treatment and the nitrates are high (30 ppm). So I'm gonna have to take all these ideas and come up with a solution.

I hope you paid your electric bills. When I do my SW changes I Microwave some water and mix till temp is close.

Is your stove gas or electric? If electric you can boil some water to premix in a bucket with cold from the tap. Microwaving works too...but it's a pain to microwave enough water for a tank bigger than 20 gallons.

I like the boiling method because I just set the pan on the stove, and by the time I've vacuumed the gravel and I'm ready to refill, the heated water is ready to go.

Ok, to be clear... it's not a matter of paying the bill, it's a matter of repair!!! :D

I think I've got a plan. A large tub filled with water right inside my back door. An extra heater in the tub with a powerhead for water movement. Siphon the water from the tub down the stairs and into the tank. I'll set this up tonight and do the change tomorrow.

Sounds like a good plan, Hope all goes well keep a eye on your hose as it dont take long to flood the basement.

Steve.

Hope things work out well. Let us know how it goes.

Everything went a-ok. Fish love the fresh water and it only took me about twice as long as normal! Gas should be fixed by next week... thank goodness.

Thanks for all the tips!

EDIT:

In case someone is confused by reading my other posts in different threads, this tank is in the basement of my new house that I'm restoring. Thus the reason the warm water outage didn't effect my other three tanks that are at my current home. There's the 2+2=. :)
