I have a opaline gourami that got way to big way to fast, (the guy at the pet store said he would grow slowly) now he poops so much its doing a real deal on my filter. I was wondering what i can do with him or if anyone can help me slow his digestion down.

My tank has so far,

1 Tiger Barb
1 Baby Bala Shark
1 Chinese Algae Eater
1 Opaline Gourami
3 Indian Glassfish
2 Snails

There isn't anything you can do to stop him from producing waste. It may not be just him, because your tank is overstocked. Take out the bala, the gourami, and the CAE, and eventually the tiger barb. You can give them to a good LFS, and probably receive credit.

:iagree:

Opalines are very aggressive towards smaller fish and grown quite large, to say nothing of the other fish... :(

As for the waste issue, it's a simply solution until you can return him/get a bigger tank: More Water Changes with Heavy Gravel Vacs! You may need 50% WCs every 5 days or so...

The Chinese Algae Eater will grow to 10 inches and get very aggressive. Bala shark gets to 10 inches, very active and need lots of swimming space. Tiger barb needs a school of at least 6, and they are fin nippers and can be aggressive. Gourami gets to 6 inches and territorial and aggressive. They all really need to go, tank is far too small and the bioload is way too much. They all should be given to a LFS (or friend in the hobby).
